Resilience,
measured.

Editor’s note

Most organisations treat resilience as a mood. We treat it as a measurable capability, one that can be assessed, built deliberately, and proven over time.

ResilienceBuilder is a UK resilience practice founded by Steve Howe, a former technology leader and Associate Lecturer at Coventry University. Our method begins with a validated psychometric across six dimensions, informs a tailored programme of workshops and coaching, and closes with re-measurement at 90 and 180 days.

We work with HR directors, L&D leads, and executive teams in UK businesses where pressure is sustained and the stakes are high.

In plain English

We help workforces build resilience they can measure, train, and sustain.

Most resilience training is generic. Everyone gets the same workshop. Nobody knows if it worked. We do it differently: we measure first, build what the data says is actually missing, then give people what they need to keep it going.

1

Measure

Everyone takes a 15-minute online assessment. It scores them across five facets of resilience: mental, purpose, physical, emotional, social, all underpinned by the Science of Resilience.

2

Build

We run training, workshops, or 1:1 coaching. Not generic stuff. We focus on the facets the data says are weakest for your team.

3

Sustain

We give your people the materials to keep building resilience after the engagement ends. Self-learning resources, refreshers, and re-measurement on request.

What you can actually buy

Four things, plainly.

Most clients start with the assessment. The rest follows from what the data shows. Prices on request.

01

The Assessment

A 15-minute online test. Everyone gets a personal report. You get a team-wide dashboard.

02

Workshops

Live training for teams. Half-day, full-day, or multi-session. Online or in-person.

03

1:1 Coaching

Personal coaching for anyone under sustained pressure. Usually 6 to 12 sessions.

04

Coach Certification

If you are a coach or L&D lead, we license you to deliver the assessment yourself.

The question every HR director is asking

How do I measure resilience in my workforce?

Use a validated psychometric to measure resilience across five facets, mental strength, purpose and motivation, physical stamina, emotional intelligence and social support, underpinned by the Science of Resilience. Measure before any intervention, build what the data says is weakest, then sustain it with ongoing materials and re-measurement.

ResilienceBuilder is a resilience development practice founded by Steve Howe. Every engagement begins with the ResilienceBuilder Assessment, a validated psychometric taught at postgraduate level on the Coventry University MBA and delivered to organisations globally.

This is sometimes called workforce resilience, workplace resilience, or resilience development. What it is not: a wellbeing survey, a mood tracker, or a generic training workshop. It is measurement first, the data tells us what to build.

Individuals own their personal data. Organisations receive aggregate, board-ready reporting. The assessment is repeatable, comparable, and designed to track and sustain outcomes over time, not to describe feelings.

Where do you fit?

Services and training

Seven ways we work with you.

Every service starts with the same assessment. What changes is the audience and the format, shaped by the data your team gives us.

The thesis

If you can’t measure resilience, you can’t build it. Everything we do starts and ends with a number, not to reduce people to data, but to give organisations the evidence they need to invest well and prove outcomes.

The model

Six dimensions
of resilience.

The ResilienceBuilder Model measures resilience across six evidence-based dimensions. Each dimension is independently scored, individually coachable, and tracked over time.

01
Mental Strength

Cognitive habits that keep people clear, focused and decisive when pressure rises.

02
Purpose & Motivation

The why behind the work. People with a clear sense of purpose recover faster.

03
Physical Stamina

Sleep, recovery and energy management. The foundation most programmes skip.

04
Emotional Intelligence

Self-awareness and empathy under load. How teams behave when things go wrong.

05
Social Support

The quality of working relationships. The single biggest predictor of recovery.

Founder

Steve Howe.

Forty years in senior technology leadership taught Steve one thing: the teams that survive prolonged pressure aren’t the loudest or the cleverest. They are the ones whose resilience has been deliberately built, measured, and defended.

After leaving corporate life in 2017, Steve developed the ResilienceBuilder Model, a six-dimension framework taught at postgraduate level on the Coventry University MBA and now used by UK businesses to measure, build and prove workforce resilience.

He speaks at the CIPD Network and the Wellbeing at Work Summit, and works directly with HR directors, L&D leads, and executive teams. The work is always data-first, always practical, and always aimed at outcomes that will hold up in a boardroom.

Quick answers

The short version.

What is the ResilienceBuilder Assessment?

A 15-minute online psychometric that measures resilience across five facets, underpinned by the Science of Resilience. It produces an individual report for each person and an anonymised aggregate dashboard for the organisation.

How is it different from a wellbeing survey?

A wellbeing survey reports how people feel. The ResilienceBuilder Assessment measures resilience as a skill, across five independent facets, and is designed to be re-measured so change can be tracked and sustained.

How long does a programme take?

The assessment itself takes 10 to 15 minutes. A typical organisational programme runs 90 to 180 days from assessment to intervention to re-measurement, followed by ongoing self-learning materials.

Where is it delivered?

ResilienceBuilder Ltd is registered in England and Wales and works with organisations in the UK and overseas. The assessment is delivered in English and taught on the Coventry University MBA.

Who owns the individual assessment data?

The individual. Every person who takes the assessment owns their personal report. Organisations only receive anonymised aggregate reporting at team or cohort level.

Can we roll it out across a workforce?

Yes. Company-wide programmes are multi-site, multi-cohort, and assessment-led. Aggregate dashboards for HR, personal reports for individuals, and the option of targeted training and coaching informed by the data.

How does this help HR or L&D justify the investment?

The assessment produces comparable, repeatable data across cohorts and over time. That lets HR and L&D teams take a measurable baseline to the board, target interventions where the data shows weakness, and demonstrate direction of travel at 90 and 180 days.

Is there a coach certification?

Yes. Coaches, L&D leads and HR professionals can certify to deliver the ResilienceBuilder Assessment and teach the five-facet model in their own practice or workplace. The certification is CPD recognised.

Common questions

From HR, L&D and wellbeing leads
How is the ResilienceBuilder Assessment different from a wellbeing survey? 01

A wellbeing survey tells you how people feel. The ResilienceBuilder Assessment is a validated psychometric across five facets, underpinned by the Science of Resilience. It tells you where resilience is strong, where it’s fragile, and what kind of intervention will move the needle. It is repeatable, comparable, and produces data you can take to the board.

Who owns the data, the organisation or the individual? 02

The individual owns their personal report. Organisations receive aggregate, anonymised dashboards at team and company level. This is deliberate: it protects psychological safety and makes people honest when they answer.

How long does a typical engagement last? 03

Most organisational programmes run across 90–180 days: assessment, targeted workshops or coaching, then re-measurement. Some clients choose to establish the assessment as a quarterly or annual rhythm.

Is the coach certification accredited? 04

[PLACEHOLDER] The programme is CPD-recognised and ICF-aligned CCEUs. Full accreditation details are shared on request.

Can I try the assessment before committing? 05

Yes. Every discovery call includes a walkthrough of the full assessment and a sample individual and organisational report, so you can see exactly what you and your team would receive.
